How to 'Level Up' Your IELTS Listening

Improving your listening band requires more than just listening to recordings. You need a strategic approach to the different question types like multiple choice, map labeling, and sentence completion.

Tip 1: Predict the Content

Read the questions in the 20-30 seconds given before the audio starts. Try to predict what kind of information is missing (e.g., a number, a name, or a date).

Tip 2: Watch Out for 'Distractors'

Speakers often change their minds. For example: "I'll join you on Monday... no wait, I have a meeting, make it Tuesday." If you write Monday, you'll lose the mark!

Tip 3: Spelling Counts

Even if you hear the right word, an incorrectly spelled answer is marked as wrong. Practice common IELTS spelling patterns.
